More than 750 students from Los Banos and 480 students from Dos Palos enjoyed performances by the Merced Symphony Orchestra last week.

The symphony played two performances at Pacheco High School in Los Banos for fourth grade students and then traveled to Dos Palos High School for a third performance for the third, fourth and fifth grade students from Marks Elementary School in Dos Palos.

The symphony performed for students from the Merced City School District and Atwater Elementary School District in April at the Merced Theatre.

This is the first time the Merced Symphony has performed in Dos Palos. “We want to see the long-running children’s concerts expand to reach all students in the County,” said Jennifer Summers, Merced Symphony Association executive director. “We hope that starting a concert with the Dos Palos-Oro Loma Joint Unified School District is a step in reaching that goal.”

Buses transported students to and from the 50-minute performances. The performances were intended for students and school staff.

With performances in Merced, Los Banos and Dos Palos, the Merced Symphony Association has reached more students than ever before. These performances mark the end of student performances for this school year.
