On Dec. 14th, 2023, surrounded by family, the world lost a beautiful soul.

Melissa knew the Lord held open arms for her as she embraced her departure.

Her legacy of gentle love will continue to shine for those who knew her. Melissa had a talent with art and loved mosaics. She cherished trees/nature and enjoyed flower gardening. If you were in her presence you would always be prepared to stop and view the sun setting. Missy had a nurturing spirit that reminded us to simply enjoy the small things in life.

Missy enjoyed reading her Bible and loved her church family which accepted her with open arms and love.

Melissa went above and beyond to cleanse her body with a challenging journey to heal. Each person who crossed her path had a unique and special bond with her.

Our family would like to thank and bless the great staff at Stanford University who provided the most loving and compassionate care as Melissa fought her battle to live. They are truly Angels sent from heaven!

Melissa is survived by her daughter Sharelle Covert, grandson James Covert, siblings Mark McCutchen, Joy McCutchen Zywicki and Suellen McCutchen; amongst nieces and nephews.

Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Jo McCutchen, and father, A.L. McCutchen.

Memorial Service will be held Feb. 10, starting at 2:30 p.m., at East Olive Adventist Church, 2222 East Olive Ave. in Merced.

As we say goodbye we hold and cherish special memories. Rest in peace Darling.
