Local marching bands shine at Merced competition

Junior high and high school bands from around Merced County and beyond competed last Saturday in the 62nd Annual Central California Band Review (CCBR) at Golden Valley High School in Merced.

Student musicians competed in multiple categories including parade, drumline, color guard, field show and jazz.

It’s is the second longest-running band review in California dating back to 1960 when community leaders held a music festival to commemorate Veterans Day. Today, the event brings in thousands of students, family members and residents who enjoy a full day of excitement.

Once again, kudos belongs to the members of the Golden Valley High Band Boosters who work for months every year to make this special community event a success.
