Last CASA class of 2024 sworn in to aid foster kids

The Honorable Judge Donald Proietti swore in the last CASA trainees for 2024, and the last class he will swear in before retiring at the end of the year.
Class 56 completed 30 hours of training and five hours of court observation with 13 trainees; four more will be sworn in at a later date.
CASA of Merced County’s mission is to recruit, train, supervise and retain volunteers whose job it is to advocate and be the voice for children in foster care.
Each day in California, approximately 70 children who have been abused or neglected join the state’s population of nearly 60,000 children in foster care (with approximately 600 of these children in Merced County). These children were abandoned, abused or neglected and then removed from their families and the place they called home.
The goal of CASA volunteer advocates is to prevent abused, neglected and abandoned children from becoming lost in the foster care system by providing individual and high quality advocacy to the foster children we serve.
