Halloween costume party takes over senior center

Things got pretty wild last Friday night at the Merced Senior Center during the annual Halloween Costume Party and Dance for people living with special needs and their friends and family members.

Guests of all ages — youngsters to seniors — were dancing all over the floor to funky music, eating all kinds of sweet treats, winning prizes, laughing and having a great time.

The event is organized by Merced County Parks and Recreation and led by Superintendent Michael Sanchez. They also receive help from the City of Merced Parks and Community Services division.

Music was provided by DKP Entertainment. Volunteer teams included the UC Merced Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Cruickshank Middle School and Merced High School.

All kinds of business donations came in to help supply food, drinks and treats for the night. They include: the BBQ Pit, H&W Burgers, Paul’s Place, Merced Employee Credit Union, Port of Subs, Togo’s, Panda Express, McNamara Sports, Ingram’s Trophies, Atwater Sub Shop, Richwood Meats, Pizza Factory, Sweet Otaku Anime, Coffee Bandits, and the Dollar Store.

Special mention to Van Groningen & Sons for donating all the pumpkins!
