El Capitan Track team wins Section Championship

The El Capitan Track team finished the season last year with a vision; “to change the direction of the team and refocus on getting things done in the classroom while getting back to the fundamentals of track.”
That vision paid off this season for both the boys and girls track teams.
The Varsity Girls achieved success as CCC individual champions in the 100m & 400m, with girls qualifying for both the Section and Master’s Meet.
The Varsity Boys had success winning the Division III Section Title for track — the first in the school’s history.
They also had individual CCC Champions in the 100m, 200m, 400m and the 4 x 100m relays. Several of the boys qualified for the upcoming Master’s Meet.
This season has been a testament to the hard work put in by the athletes and the work ethic of the coaches.
Coach Hassaan and Coach T worked with the motto, “stairs not elevators.” The athletes embraced the motto and worked harder to get to the top.
The staff (Coach Ybarra, Coach Stewart, Coach Moore, Coach Lisa, Coach Hassaan, and Coach Tisho) have been together for just a few years, but worked as a team to achieve success with our program.
What the Gauchos accomplished this year could not have been done without the combined efforts of the staff and athletes. They are looking forward to what is to come and are hungry to achieve much more.
