Big, lively turnout to support foster youth in region

The women were looking gorgeous with fabulous dresses and fancy hats.

The men were simply beaming with big smiles.

It was the annual Derby Night to support local foster youth through the efforts of CASA of Merced County at the fairgrounds last weekend.

CASA volunteers work as advocates for children in the foster care system.

Derby Night is an opportunity for community members to come out and support the cause by participating in fundraising auctions, video horse races, and by sponsoring much-needed advocates in the program.

It was a packed house inside the Half Dome Hall at the fairgrounds. CASA officials said the fundraiser was a big success.

There are over 500 children in the foster care system, and many more volunteers are needed. If you are interested, visit online at MercedCASA.org, or call 722-2272.
