Spend upcoming holiday at Castle’s Open Cockpit Day

Castle Air Musuem at 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater is hosting its Fall Open Cockpit Day on Monday, Sept. 2 — Labor Day — from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

See the interiors of these huge warriors that defended our freedom for the last time this year.

There are also huge new attractions — like the MC-130 Hercules Special Operations aircraft. Or the beautiful P-51 Mustang in the musuem’s hidden collection. There’s a free shuttle to view the collection included in the admission price.

That’s not all. Experience food served in a military mess hall setting with historic Army vehicles surrounding the area. Also, there’s helicopter rides, food court delights, and the Mercy Air Medi Flight on display.

Want to try your hand at being a Top Gun? Now you can do just that in a F-14 simulator.

The cockpits of 40 of the musuem’s aircraft will be open for viewing — like the F-16 Fighting Falcon, formerly with the 144th Fighter Wing in Fresno, the F-14 Tomcat, and the SR-71 Blackbird.

This is a fantastic family event. For admission pricing and more information, go online to: castleairmuseum.org, or call: 723-2178, ext. 305; or contact the gift shop at 723-2182.
