Sierra Repertory Theatre is overjoyed to announce new Managing Director, Jeremy Blunt.
Blunt succeeds Becky Saunders, a longtime SRT actress who took over the role from Sara Jones, one of the non-profit’s five founders.
In 2018, Sara and Dennis Jones retired from Sierra Rep and handed the reigns to longtime Artistic Director, Scott Viets. The theatre is now run by Viets as the Producing Artistic Director. Viets is supported by Blunt and Jerry Lee, the newly appointed Associate Artistic Director, and a staff of 24 full and part time local employees.
Viets says, “I’m very excited about having Jeremy join our staff in such an important position and looking forward to collaborating with him and new Associate Artistic Director, with all of us working together to ensure SRT’s continual growth as a performing arts organization and a business.”
Says Blunt, “I am profoundly grateful and deeply humbled to be Sierra Repertory Theatre’s next Managing Director. I look forward to working with the board of directors and the incredible staff and artists to build upon and expand SRT’s profile in the region.
“SRT has demonstrated its commitment to innovation, exploration, and telling stories that truly capture audiences’ imagination. I am excited to work with Producing Artistic Director Scott Viets to expand SRT’s impact and service to the communities in and around Tuolumne County.”
Prior to his appointment as managing director at Sierra Repertory Theatre, Blunt was on the general management team at Broadway Asia where he worked specifically on the theatrical production of DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda Spectacular Live. Before that, he served as the Contract Affairs Coordinator at the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and the Content and Creative Fellow at the Ambassador Theatre Group. He grew up in Southern California and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a MBA from California Baptist University. He also holds a MFA in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College. He is a member of the Theatre Communications Group and is proudly serving in the Air National Guard.
