Last chances to experience ‘Passage to the Dreamtime’

“Passage to the Dreamtime,” an exciting, new one-act play by Anya Martin will be performed at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center on Thursday, Feb. 28, and Friday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. These are the final dates of a short successful series of shows at the MAC.

Anya Martin who shares her time between Merced and Atlanta is the author of the debut story collection “Sleeping with the Monster,” released in 2018 by Lethe Press, to positive reviews. “Passage to the Dreamtime” is included in the collection. Her writing is astute, her characters and the plot take surprising turns. It is the story of a Nazi General in prison who is visited by his American lover. They try to make sense of their relationship, his war crimes, her desires, and what is dream, what is reality.

The staged reading is directed by Heike Hambley, produced by the Phoenix Creative Collective, and features Alissa Haynes, David Hambley, and Colton Dennis. There will be a Question and Answer time after each show.

Tickets are $ 10 for General Admission, $ 5 for Students; they can be purchased on line atphoenixtherise.com or at the door.
