Bears show compassion during Winter Wish Rally

Student wishes came to life at Merced High School just in time for the holiday.

Dozens of Bears received gifts as part of the school’s annual Winter Wish Rally held last Friday. Now in its 12th year, the holiday event kicked off with winter performances by the Merced High School Marching 100, the Bear Cheer Team, and the Leadership Class.

Each year, student organizers ask members of the student body to write down their Winter Wishes a month in advance. As the wishes from each class begin to roll in, they are then handed off to the Associated Student Body Leadership, who read through the hundreds of wishes to determine which wishes are able to be granted to students.

The wishes granted this year included pets, sporting equipment, musical instruments, family excursions, yearbooks, and senior year obligations paid off, among many other things.
