The Multicultural Arts Center (The MAC) in downtown Merced brought together dozens of local residents who participated in the opening reception for the annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) observance.
They enjoyed the colorful exhibits on display inside the galleries, traditional dance presentations, and dressing up for the occasion. The event also featured a candlelight procession through Main Street.
The holiday celebrates the remembrance of those who have passed. The event has been running at the MAC since 1999, and has continuously involved the artwork of local artists, community alters, as well as cultural insight from residents.
