The Merced California Student Opportunity Access Program (Cal-SOAP) and Merced County Office of Education (MCOE) will host a California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) statewide financial aid workshop for the Merced region on Monday, Sept. 19.
The free CSAC workshop will provide high school counselors, student outreach coordinators, community education partners and other youth advocates with financial aid knowledge they can use to help students apply for and receive financial aid benefits.
Training topics include updates to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), California Dream Act Application (CADAA), Cal Grant programs, Middle Class Scholarship (MCS), programs for foster youth and the California Dream Act Service Incentive grant.
Information on the AB469 legislation, which requires local education agencies (LEAs) to confirm that all high school seniors have completed the FAFSA or CADAA, is also included in the training.
The workshop will take place at the MCOE Downtown Professional Development Center at 8AM and is open to the public.
