Capacity crowd enjoys thrilling BottleRock finale in Napa with Red Hot Chili Peppers
Special presale announced for 2024 festival!
The Red Hot Chili Peppers had a massive crowd screaming for more after a well-appreciated, hour and 45 minute set jam-packed with impressive new material and their funk rock classics on the third and final night of the 10th annual BottleRock music festival in Napa.
The musicianship and straight-forward, powerhouse collaboration between and collaboration between guitarist John Frusciante, bass legend Flea, and drummer Chad Smith bent, stretched and thumped reality. Vocalist Anthony Kiedis was seemingly — all together — the spotlight star, the emphatic conductor, and the enviable guy along for the ride.
They all ended the night surrounded by crowd euphoria as they went front-to-front with “Under the Bridge” and “Give It Away.”
Day 3 also belonged to Sheryl Crow, The Struts, the National, Caamp, Lil Nas X, Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, Warren G., and the Wu-Tang Clan, among the 40 acts featured on Sunday.
Sheryl Crow, wearing a Wonder Woman T-shirt, was a big crowd-pleaser, showing off her musical skills as she performed an array of hits, and some surprises too. You could hear many generations of fans talking about how wonderful she performed well after she left the stage.
Likewise, fans of The Struts were treated to a wicked, upbeat set from the English rockers who are no strangers to California and West Coast anthem rock tradition.
Attendance for the 3-day festival has yet to be released but it wouldn’t be a surprise if this year was another record-breaker. Thousands traveled to Napa for not only the music, but a world-class food, wine and spirits festival as well. Of all the big music festivals in California, it’s safe to say BottleRock has the broadest appeal for the most diverse fan base.
And there’s always some surprises that capture a lot of attention. Fans are still talking about the surprise appearance of Keanu Reeves, reuniting with Dogstar on Day 2. The “John Wick” actor hadn’t played live with the band in something like 20 years or so.
If you missed out on this year’s BottleRock … well … as they always say … there is always next year.
And you have a chance to get first in line for tickets!
