Rehearsals for the Merced County High School Honor Choir began last week in preparation for a performance with the Merced Symphony Association on Saturday, April 1, at the Merced Theatre.
Students from high schools across the county were invited to participate in rehearsals for the April performance, which showcases the talent of local student singers and provide them with the opportunity to collaborate with musicians from the Merced Symphony Orchestra.
The program will feature a selection of classical compositions, spirituals and contemporary musical theater pieces, and includes performances by student choirs from Fremont Elementary School and St. Paul Lutheran School.
In addition to the musical aspect of the performance, attendees have the opportunity to view student art pieces from the Merced Multicultural Arts Center High School Art Show in the theater lobby before and after the performance.
The performance, sponsored by the Merced County Education Foundation and Arts Now Merced, is free and open to the public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances at 6 p.m.
