Wine, beer lovers gather at Castle Air Museum for festival

Aviation buffs joined with wine and craft beer aficionados last Saturday at Castle Air Force Museum for the annual Korks and Kegs festival.

This year’s event raised funds for an open air hanger to protect the DC-9 Presidential Plane display, one of the highlights of the aviation museum. The local historical display allows residents and tourists to experience the plane that provided Air Force One transport to U.S. presidents during the plane’s era.

Nearly a dozen wineries and nearly half as many local microbreweries were on hand for the festival. In addition, participants were also able to peruse a number of local craft vendors that were added to this year’s event — selling everything for home décor to conversation pieces worthy of any family room display.

Guests were also treated to live entertainment that took place at a center pavilion between historic aircraft and were able to compliment the evening’s drinks with dishes from a number of local food vendors. Unique to this year’s event was the ability for those who found a favorite beverage at one of the booths to be able to purchase the bottled drink and bring it home.
