UC celebrates Bobcat Homecoming in downtown Merced

Freshman, upperclassman, and alumni of the University of California Merced joined together in celebration and Bobcat pride for the annual campus homecoming events.

Kicking off last Friday, the three-day extravaganza promoted all things UC Merced, including athletic and scholastic prowess.

The UC Merced Downtown Center lit up the streets of downtown for a public block party on Friday night. A crowd of residents and students alike enjoyed local cuisine offerings, a DJ and dance area, first responders displays, numerous UC Merced academic exhibits, and speakers and presentations.

Meanwhile, Bobcat soccer and basketball stars kept sports fans on the edge of their seats as they competed in big weekend games. On Saturday, there was an opportunity to “Run with the Bobcats” inside of the Joseph E. Gallo Recreation Center on campus, followed by a “Campus and Community Showcase” event. Later that night, the festivities continued with the Alumni Association Summit, the Downtown Merced Art Hop, as well as Bobcats and Brews.

As the homecoming celebration came to a close on Sunday, both the Women and Men’s Soccer teams took to the field once again as they battled to complete the homecoming celebration on a high note.
