After a successful run with rave reviews in Modesto, “Tuesdays with Morrie” is coming to Merced for a weekend run, Aug. 23-24. “Tuesdays with Morrie is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.’
Directed by Heike Hambley, the two-character play features Jim Johnson as Morrie and Colton Dennis as Mitch. This is a co-production with the MAC and Gallo Center Rep. Show schedule includes: Friday, Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 24, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 25, 2 p.m.
Proceeds from the Sunday matinee will go to Hinds Hospice with a question and answer talk following the Sunday performance.
