Tractor Supply Co. is planning a major move to Merced by creating a large signature store inside the growing Merced Gateway Marketplace project.
California Gold Development, a development and construction firm, and the Pluim family have already broke ground at the 70-acre site near Highway 99 and the new Campus Parkway route to UC Merced. An ARCO gas station and mini market was the first business to set up shop.
The plan is to develop a mixed-use commercial and residential center that will feature a hotel, an apartment complex and restaurants and stores.
“Tractor Supply Co. will be part of their project and will be a 22,136 square foot store,” said Frank Quintero, Merced’s director of economic development. “It will have one of their new store formats and be a little larger than other Tractor Supply stores. …
“Approval was received from the city’s Planning Department, and next, Building Permit applications will be turned into the city. Then, there will be grading and construction.
“We are focusing on getting their site plans in and making sure they get through the process.
“In the future, we will get information on the anticipated opening date for Tractor Supply.
“The developer has been working on the entire shopping center project for over a year, getting it ready for businesses to come in.
“Besides ARCO, there will be other businesses that we are not at liberty to name. We can’t release the names of those coming in until we get approval from the companies.
“Right across the street from Merced Gateway Marketplace, they are doing grading for another gas station and the Hilton Garden Inn, a hotel with conference centers, and those projects are starting to take shape too. That project is called Campus Parkway Plaza.”
