‘The Underpants’ on show for all to see at Prospect Theater
Prospect Theater Project begins their 21st anniversary season with The Underpants by Steve Martin adapted from Carl Sternhiem.
From the author of Picasso at the Lapine Agile comes this exquisite adaptation of a classic German farce. Louise and Theo’s bourgeois existence is shattered when Louise’s wardrobe malfunction becomes the talk of the town. What follows is a fast and furious romp that skewers gender roles, double standards, fleeting moments of fame, and scandal-mongering. Fresh, funny, and naughty in all the right ways.
“After almost two years away, I really wanted to return to having people in the theater with a romp,” said Jack Souza, Prospect Theater Project’s artistic director. “Steve Martin’s adaptation of Carl Sternheim’s socio-political farce just felt right — ribald, satirical, self-referential, and quirky. Perfect for Prospect.”
The Underpants features Delawna McKinney, Kyle Holeman, Gary Thomas, James Kusy, Tom Solomon, and April Potter.
Production dates are Sept. 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, at 7:30 p.m., and Sept. 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets for The Underpants will be $25.
