The most recent Mercado night market on Main street on July 1 featured a special tribute of appreciation to first responders, military members and veterans.
“The Mercado,” a farmers-market-style event featuring vendors, dancers, artists, and entertainment, is being put on by Merced’s Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Canal, Main St, and Bob Hart Square are blocked off to oncoming traffic as residents enjoy an evening of shopping and socializing. The Chamber hopes to stimulate the local economy of small and local businesses, vendors, artists, and entertainers through the event. Future markets are planned for the first Thursday of every month through the fall, including Aug. 5, Sept. 2, and Oct. 7.
