‘Thank You’ for those who support our Field of Honor

Members of the Merced Sunrise Rotary and supporters came together on the lawn of Merced College on Thursday as part of a ceremony to highlight the numerous community organizations that help make the annual Field of Honor possible.

The Field of Honor began in 2013 following Bob and Betsy Hobbs’ return from a trip to Murrieta, California, where the Rotarians viewed a flag display for military veterans. Today’s patriotic display at Merced College consists of more than 2,000 flags. The event is organized by the Merced Sunrise Rotary in conjunction with Merced College. Residents are invited to take part in the display by placing a flag within the grid in the name of a loved one, friend, or important figure in their life that has served in the armed services or is actively serving in the military.

Those organizations who have helped make the event possible include: the Peter J. Gallo Memorial Foundation, Joseph Gallo Farms, Joseph Farms, Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union, Dignity Health – Mercy Medical Center, Community Foundation of Merced County, Agrecom, Amie Marchini Senior Care, Bristol Hospice, Courtesy Rental Car, El Capitan Hotel, Fluetsch & Busby Insurance, Hinds Hospice, Hoffman Security, Johnson Industrial, KUBB-FM 96.3 / K97.5, KHTN-FM 104.7 / KYOS-AM 1480, Kellogg Supply, Kirby Manufacturing, Leap Carpenter Kemps Insurance, Merced Chevrolet, the Merced County Times, Merced Heart Associates, Merced Honda, Merced Mall, MERCO Credit Union, Minuteman Press, Nelson Environmental, Robert Tyler CFP, Travis Credit Union, Merced County Association of Realtors, UC Merced, and of course, Merced College.
