Families, friends and loved ones are once again enjoying indoor dining in the Merced area thanks to Merced County being in the less restrictive Red Tier in the state’s coronavirus reopening program.
Merced County has improved its new-case rate, at 7.8 per 100,000 residents, and testing positivity at 3.5 percent. If numbers continue to improve, soon Merced could join Fresno, Kings, Mariposa and Tulare counties who have made it to the even less restrictive Orange Tier.
Sadly, Public Health reported one new COVID-19 related death on Tuesday afternoon, raising the total number of fatalities to 453. As of Tuesday, there have been a total of 31,289 residents
infected with the virus since the start of the pandemic, and 350 residents were estimated to be actively infected with the virus.
Also Tuesday, there were 350 residents estimated to be actively infected with the virus. The test positivity rate was at 3.5 percent, and the percentage of adults who have been fully vaccinated in Merced County was at 19.3 percent.
