Susan Regert is pleased to invite the public to her Spring Show this weekend.
“This will be my second show at my new studio/gallery,” Regert says. “It is also my 53rd one-woman show. It is hard to believe that I have been painting for well over 50 years.
“During that time one of my favorite subjects to paint was Randol’s on G street. My mother and Ruthe Randol were best friends from high school through their adult lives. I spent a great deal of time there as a child and when I began to paint it was a bountiful resource. I probably have done at least 30 paintings based either on the buildings or objects located there. I have decided that I will do at least one a year to honor my memories. This is my latest attempt. I have to work from my old photos and drawings as many of the buildings are now gone. I also remember from my childhood this blue flower that I always called cornflower. It would grow wild along the roads. I loved the color and shape of the blooms. It has since been eradicated as a weed. In researching it, I found out it is Chicory. I decided to make it a part of Randol’s 2023.”
“Due to the wet winter, I have spent a great deal of time painting. I am grateful that I have this to keep me busy. I have over a dozen new works since my last show an am excited to share them.
“It has been fun adding to my series of paintings of missions and a collection I call Naked Ladies” states the artist.”
Please come by for a viewing on Saturday, May 20, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 21, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 1556 San Luis Obispo Ct. The Regert Gallery is also open by appointment by calling Susan at (209) 777-0685.
