Realtors name annual award winners, new leadership team

Normally, the members of the Merced County Association of Realtors (MCAR) gather together every December to award members and affiliates with special recognition awards, and also to install new officers. The event is held in a luncheon setting, typically at the posh Merced Golf and Country Club banquet room.

However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the December luncheon was cancelled and held at the start of this year via a group Zoom encounter online.

Nevertheless, as always, we do have award winners to announce.

MCAR President Mary Camper was named Realtor of the Year. Kay Flanagan of Flanagan Realty received the Bill Del Nero Lifetime Achievement Award. Realtor Ernie Ochoa received the Excellence in Leadership Award. Realtor Allen Sietsema II received the President’s Award. Realtor Anna Newkirk received the Bob Ayers Memorial Award. Realtor Moe Jawad received the Flanadori Award. And Sarah Boyle of TransCounty Title received the Affiliate of the Year award.

Mary Camper was installed as MCAR President by Jeanne Radsick, the president of the California Association of Realtors, who attended the virtual meeting. Past-president Anna Newkirk also celebrated and honored Camper’s installation. Also, Ranjeet Singh was installed as President-elect for the upcoming year.

Said Camper, “I’m optimistic. I believe our real estate — the market — will continue to be in line like it was last year. I think it is going to be a busy time for real estate in our community. In regards to the association, I hope with increased vaccinations and herd immunity, our members will be able to meet again in person and also start working on our traditional fundraising events. We are — fingers crossed — going to do our Rib Cook-off in July and also our Charitable event in the fall.”
