New college art exhibit is ‘Off The Rails’

San Francisco artist Tamera Avery will present her newest exhibit 'Off the Rails' at the Merced College Art Gallery.

The Merced College Art Gallery will present an exhibition of paintings, oil on canvas, by San Francisco artist Tamera Avery.

This exhibition will open Feb. 20 and continue to March 15. The public is invited to a reception with the artist on Feb. 21, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The event is free to the public.

Tamera Avery is a San Francisco based visual artist working in oils, creating large scale paintings. Inspired from the physical world and examine the dynamic nature of truth.

Avery says her process begins with real world stories, events or causes. Her ideas are researched and her imagery sourced from the internet. A process of collage and combination of the imagery with self – portraits she creates small works. These small works are source material for her large paintings.

Tamera Avery has showed her work throughout the United States, and her work has been awarded in multiple exhibitions. She received her education from the San Francisco Art Institute and University of California, Berkeley.

The Merced College Art Gallery is located in Theater Building, Merced College on M Street in Merced.

GALLERY HOURS: Monday- Thursday, 9:30-11:30 a.m. and noon–2 p.m.
