Native artist Susan Regert-Casagrande has returned to Merced after moving to Truckee.
“It is a bittersweet move,” the artist says. “I loved the mountains and the new subject matter to paint, but hated the snow. After the death of my husband, I am grateful to be back in Merced with family and friends. I was scheduled to have a one-woman show at the Truckee Airport Gallery, but then Covid hit so I have several paintings of that area.
“My new home has a wonderful studio area for me to work. It is the first time I get to have North light which is the preferred lighting for artists. I have not had a showing since I closed my old gallery and my metal sculpture business Z Garden Party.
“Please join me Saturday, Nov. 12, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday; Nov. 13, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 1556 San Luis Obispo Court in Merced. I have had a lot of time to paint the last four years and have a good selection of new watercolors. All original paintings are ten percent off and all prints and selected originals are 20 percent off.
“I am very excited about my new website. It is connected to Bay View Printing Company so you can order prints from my original paintings. They offer prints on art paper, canvas and metal in various sizes. The shopping cart should be ready by the end of the month. I don’t have all originals up yet because I have painted for over 50 years and have a large body of work. A lot of my early work is lost. Many paintings were on slides and that presented another problem. They had to be transferred to digital format. I sent them out to have that done and they came back black so I just gave up for about a year. I learned about a little machine that I could do it myself so that has been another challenge. For some reason I did not sign my paintings before I photographed them so I have had to figure out how to sign the new images. The website itself has been a major frustration. I am grateful for help from my granddaughter Katie. Please check it out at: www.susanregertgallery.com.
