Merced County vet selected to compete in national pageant

Annie Henry, who holds the title of ‘Ms. of Central CA,’ will be among the candidates competing at the 2024 American Pageants National Pageant, which will be held June 29-July 2 in Las Vegas, NV.

Annie Henry is a proud veteran who served honorably in the Air Force Reserves for six years. As a wife of a fellow veteran, she understands the sacrifices made by those who serve. Annie holds a Master’s in Business from Columbia Southern University and is a dedicated mother of two. She continues to expand her creativity through pageants and additional education at Modesto Jr College. During her reign as Ms. Central CA, Annie passionately advocates for veterans, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to serving her community.

The achievement-based pageant recognizes young women for their outstanding personal achievements, leadership abilities, and artistic, creative, or athletic talents. Each candidate will be scored using distinct judging categories: Scholastic Record & Professional Record, Service & Achievement in School and Community, Professional Development of Talents & Skills, Personality Projection & Poise (Formal Wear), Interview, and General Awareness Test.

This program was founded in 1983 by Mr. Warren Alexander, a former educator and pageant director, and was designed to help America’s youth reach their full potential. The pageant strives to promote confidence and an Accent on Achievement. In 2017, the organization rebranded as American Pageants to include additional age divisions: Little Miss of America (ages 7-9), Young Miss of America (ages 10-12), Junior Miss of America (ages 13-15), Miss Teen of America (ages 16-18) and Miss of America (19-25). In 2020, the program expanded to include Ms. of America (20+ any marital status, with or without kids) because we recognized that achievements go on throughout our lives.

Founder Warren Alexander always emphasized, “This pageant truly represents well-rounded women. Sixty percent of the judging involves written resumes detailing each candidate’s accomplishments, with the strongest single category being her interview with the judges.”

Special Guests will include the outgoing class of national titleholders:

  • 2023 Little Miss of America, Bailey Bonham of Illinois
  • 2023 Young Miss of America, Annabelle Tidmore of Georgia
  • 2023 Junior Miss of America, Ashlyn Favors of Texas
  • 2023 Miss Teen of America, Taylor Claire Warner of Idaho
  • 2023 Miss of America, Morgan Powell of Maryland
  • 2023 Ms. of America, Claire Kirsch of Pennsylvania
  • 2023 National Ambassador, Lyndsey Hylton of Oregon

The National Pageant Finals will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the University of Las Vegas Nevada campus in the Student Union Ballroom. The event is open to the general public and tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

The winner of each division will receive an educational scholarship, the opportunity to host an inclusion event for Special Olympics, an invitation to a national titleholder retreat, and a travel stipend to return to the 2025 National pageant to crown her successor.
