The “Farms & Fields” exhibit, a new showcase of work by artists in the region, opened this week in the Lobby Galleries of the Carnegie Arts Center in downtown Turlock.
This juried, all-media show celebrates the variety and importance of agriculture in the Central Valley.
There will be a free reception on May 5, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The show will run through July 29.
Artists from throughout Northern and Central California submitted their work to the judges.
The show features eight artists from Merced County, including Merced artists Abel Corchado, Jennifer Fosgate, Adrian Herrera, Kate Jackson, Loren Lukens, and Deanna Schmitz, along with Atwater artists Christopher Viney and Rita Yamaguchi.
Overall, 61 works by 47 artists were selected, representing 20 different regional communities.
Juror Moira Donohoe, an award-winning Yosemite area painter, selected the works from 149 submissions. The exhibition includes paintings, photographs, prints, drawings, watercolors, mixed media, pastels, ceramics, sculpture, mosaics, and fabric arts.
Subjects range from field crops and orchards to farm equipment, rodeos, irrigation, livestock, and more.
The Carnegie Arts Center is located at 250 N. Broadway in downtown Turlock.
