Local talent lineup rocks stage at Applegate during ‘Super Mrkt’

Rather than the usual downtown locations, the Super Mrkt Vendor fair made its return to Applegate Park this past Sunday, and for the first time, they featured a number of local musical guests.

The acts performing throughout the day were Mox, Corset Adagio, Ted Barber, and Avenue One. As usual, swarms of locals flooded the event to enjoy the festivities and many vendors.

“We are grateful to everyone that made it out to what felt like the hottest day on earth,” said Eli Torres, the Super Mrkt organizer. “Our vendors are so tough and the heat didn’t stop them from having a good time. This event was our first time adding live music and we were lucky enough to have four amazing local bands come out and play throughout the day. New locations always come with a new set of challenges but the overwhelming positive response from vendors and visitors is this Applegate location is one we’ll continue to build on.”

When asked about what is coming next for the event, Torres said, “We’ll be taking a break from the park in August because of the intense summer heat. Our next event is Aug. 19 in front of Merced newest taproom, Tioga-Sequoia, which will be an all-ages event on the street with a beer garden, food, beer pong tournament and more. We’re excited to continue to get different parts of the city involved.”
