Leslie Rae Bonner, loving wife, community supporter
Dec. 17, 1943 – Sept. 1, 2019
Leslie Rae Bonner of Merced passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1. She was 75.
“My wife of 30 plus years was the most beautiful person, both inside and out,” wrote her husband, Bob Gold. “She didn’t have a less than pleasant bone in her entire body. Her smile, which came from the heart, was the most delightful anyone possessed. I truly believe that she waited for my birthday to pass before her life ended.
“We traveled all over the world together.
“Our doggy, Jetta, a French Bulldog of 13 years continues to mourn her passing.
“She is certainly in heaven looking down upon us.”
Bonner had a long and creative career at Merced College in Community Services. Through her creativity and kindness, she touched the lives of thousands of people through events and activities they would never have had without her guiding hand and sense of adventure.
She was known for her artistic and design talent, particularly in fabric art and sewing. More important to her friends she was known for her love and generosity of spirit and time. She was always giving of herself to her friends in the Sewing Guild, Soroptimists, Book Club, and her wide circle of companions. They mourn her passing too.
Leslie Bonner is predeceased by her parents, Louise & Phil Louke. She leaves behind her husband, Bob Gold, two children – Shawna & Dan Dierksen; three grandchildren – Alexandria, Jacob, & Nolan; siblings – Sandy & Richard Louke, Kathi Miller.
A Celebration of her Life is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Merced Women’s Club House, 707 W. 22nd Street, Merced.
