The Merced Multicultural Arts Center opened its doors to the graduates of Leadership Merced Class 34 last Friday evening as friends, family, mentors and guests gathered to celebrate their success.
Organized by the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce, the Leadership Merced program gives each class of participants a 10-month, in-depth study into Merced County and provides members with the skills necessary to improve the quality of life for their fellow resident and themselves.
Following the graduation ceremony, members of Class 34 spoke with those in attendance about their time spent with the program at various stations set up throughout the first floor of the Arts Center. Subjects covered included learning about the community and culture in Merced, the government structures affecting life, our environment and natural resources, infrastructure, agricultural activities, education, capital and transportation.
