It’s time to ‘Discover The Magic’ of the County Fair
Crazy wet May weather has given way to glorious sunny skies and temperatures that will hit the upper 80s and mild 90s — just in time for the Merced County Fair, the biggest annual event in town.
The fun begins Wednesday night, June 5, with Mercy Medical Center’s “We Care Wednesday” presented by MERCO Credit Union. Don’t forget the Community Food drive. You can get into the fair FREE from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. when you bring 5 or more cans of food to any of the entrance gates. Wednesday is also Senior’s Day, so people 62 or better get in FREE!
Kids’ Day, presented by Emanuel Medical Center, is Thursday, June 6, and critters 12 and under get in FREE. Children 5 and under, by the way, are always FREE!
From carnival rides to fun food on the midway, exciting exhibits and grandstand entertainment, there’s something for everyone at the County Fair.
Don’t miss the FREE with admission Table Mountain Concert Series, including James Garner’s Tribute to Johnny Cash (June 5), Country Artists Tribute to Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney & Jason Aldean (June 6), Morris Day & The Time (June 7), Canaan Smith (June 8), and Gracie as Jenni, a tribute to Jenni Rivera (June 9).
In the Grandstand, there’s also FREE auto racing (June 5), Freestyle Moto X (June 6), Tractor Pulls (June 7), Bull Riding, (June 8) and the Gran Jaripeo celebration (June 9).
Our local FFA students will be competing during the day starting Tuesday, June 4, and all week long, culminating with the Jr. Livestock Auction on Saturday, June 8. While these daytime events are not open to the public, don’t forget to stop by the livestock area and the Hilmar Cheese Barn and show your support for FFA!
Fair hours are: Wednesday – Friday, 5 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 3 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.
