Hundreds gather for Shrimp Feed by Sunrise Rotary
The annual Bob Hobbs Memorial Shrimp Feed, organized by the Merced Sunrise Rotary club, is doing quite well despite the recent covid years.
The Pavilion Building at the Merced County Fairgrounds last Saturday, March 18, was packed with more than 600 people who enjoyed bowls and bowls of fresh shrimp and plenty of other dinner items, along with drinks, a lively dessert auction, and great conversations.
All the funds raised from the event are directed into the club’s Charity Account to support many projects and programs. Shrimp Feed sponsors and Rotary efforts continue to support the World Health Organization and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate Polio. They also support the local Clothes for Kids program, the Merced Field of Honor at Merced College, and related veteran Honor Flights.
The Merced Sunrise Rotary has an unbroken commitment to vocational and college scholarships, book
and reading drives, youth leadership, academic and sporting events, and donations to non-profits, schools, homeless shelters.
