Health Fair helps families prepare for new school year

For yet another year, the passionate and hardworking folks at Castle Family Health Center (CFHC), along with their long list of amazing sponsors, have given their time to help spread resources and information within the community through the annual “Back to School Health Fair.”

This fun, informative, and generous event took place on Saturday, July 19, and was blessed with great weather, and equally great attendance. It was also just an all-around fantastic morning and a great example of the good being done within our community.

Hundreds of families were able to learn about helpful local resources, receive free backpacks and school supplies, and take advantage of free medical checkups. There were also games for the kids, and free refreshments and snacks. Notably, Dutch Bros. participated by giving out free beverages!

“We do this every year as a way to give back to our community — the people of Winton, Atwater, and Merced,” said Araceli Rodriguez, the acting CFHC Health Education Coordinator and primary organizer for this fair. “It’s particularly important to us to be able to help our community. As we all know, the times right  now are critical, so we want to encourage the sharing of information. … And, I would like to give a big thank you to our many sponsors and supporters. We are extremely grateful for their time and resources. This is a group effort, and none of this would be possible without them.”

Rodriguez added, “I think that it is important to be giving, to be understanding, and to be empathetic to the people of our community, and it is the least that we can do to give them a nice day.”
