GV High graduating senior to perform at Merced Theatre

Emily Rowan, a graduating senior at Golden Valley High School, will be giving a piano performance to benefit the Merced Symphony.
The event will take place at the Merced Theatre on Friday, June 2, at 7 p.m.
This unique performance is presented in collaboration with the Merced Symphony Association and the studio of Janisse Foresti.
Admission will be free with the hope that Merced community will generously donate to the Symphony.
Emily will begin her program with a clever jazz piece, “The Serpent’s Kiss” by William Bolcom. She will continue with a familiar Bach Prelude & Fugue and a Beethoven Sonata. Next she will play an incredibly challenging Etude Tableaux by Sergei Rachmaninoff and her finale is a Ballade by Chopin.
In the middle of her program she will be joined by her older brother, Douglas, a PhD Candidate in Piano Performance & Pedagogy at Arizona State University. They will entertain with some delightful Brahms Hungarian Dance duets.
Emily began her music career by taking lessons from Patrice Stribling. She then moved to Janisse Foresti where she has been for the last nine years. She has competed in Baroque Festivals, the United States Open Music Competition, and completed both the California Certificate of Merit Program and the International Royal Conservatory of Music Program.
In high school, Emily has excelled in leadership and athletics. She is grateful for her experiences in Merced and is looking forward to contributing in a meaningful way to the community.
