‘Friends Helping Friends’ have good times at the fair

Elks Club members, Office of Education teachers and aides, Friends of the Fair supporters, 4-H student tour guides, and many other community volunteers all came together last Friday to provide people of all ages living with special needs a chance to enjoy a day at the Merced County Fair all to themselves.

Adults and students from all over the county were bused to the fairgrounds and provided exclusive 4-H tours of the livestock and exhibit areas, live music and dancing, and a free lunch cooked and served by local volunteers with big hearts.

To relive other moments from the Merced County Fair, readers can check out our coverage of the opening ceremonies that included a groundbreaking of a new shade structure, the Merced Speedway that packed the grandstands, the jr. livestock auctions and showmanship competitions that brought 4-H and FFA’s best and brightest together, the S.T.E.M activities that UC Merced’s Mobile Maker Space brought to this year’s fair, or the live music performance of Canaan Smith. Those interested in seeing the sights of the Merced County Fair again can check out our photo gallery post covering the attractions, rodeo, and more from this year’s fair.
