Merced Shakespearefest continues its 18th season this summer at Applegate Park with a unique version of “The Comedy of Errors.”
The raucous, farcical comedy, directed by Andrew Burkum, features aliens, interplanetary merchants, strange technology, and costuming like none ever seen before on the local Shakespearian stage.
It aims to bring the Bard to a whole new audience through the look and feel of late 1950s-early 1970s pulp science fiction while staying true to one of the funniest comedies of all time.
With two pairs of twins, a talented cast and set of designers on hand, the show is sure to delight young and old!
Performances will be on Sept. 14, 15, 21, and 22, Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., and Sundays at 7 p.m., at the Merced Open Air Theatre, in the park, at N and 26th Streets.
Be aware of the changed start time in the evening of Saturdays and Sundays. It will be cooler, but also darker! As always, performances are free, but donations are always accepted!
