Rodd Parker has been selected as the new Athletic Director for El Capitan High School.

Parker is a local resident having graduated from Merced High School in 1988. He then attended Merced College and went on to Arizona State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education.

Parker was a Teacher and Coach for twenty plus years. He taught Social Studies and coached Boy’s Aquatics. The majority of his teaching and coaching career was in the Merced High School District (Merced High 1997 – 1999, Buhach Colony 2004 – 2013, El Capitan 2013 -2019). While at Buhach and El Capitan Parker was the Head Coach for the Varsity Boys Aquatics teams. Parker coached El Capitan’s Varsity Boy’s Water Polo and Swim teams to the Western Athletic Conference league titles in 2014 and 2015.

Parker has been interested in the Athletic Director’s position for the past couple of years and has spent a lot of his time shadowing the retired Athletic Director, Lou Souza. He was pleased to be selected as El Capitan’s Athletic Director and plans to work with the coaches and student athletes to continue to build on the “Mighty Gaucho” Athletic Legacy that began with the Original El Capitan High School Athletes (1959 – 1962).
