Merced Mayor Matt Serratto showed up at the Central Valley Training Center in Merced on June 27 to watch a talent show — “CVTC has Talent” — and celebrate new regional growth for the program that offers vocational training, education and workshops for individuals with disabilities.
Mayor Serratto congratulated Senior Central Regional Director, Mary Velasquez, and staff for CVTC progress that includes opening new sites in Modesto, Valley Springs, Jackson and San Joaquin County.
The talent show featured over 20 performances by CVTC clients. The event strived to inspire and uplift the participants while showcasing their talents, and breaking down existing stereotypes and barriers. The showcase evolved from an informal opportunity for individuals to showcase their talents, to a diverse form of empowerment. It was more than just a performance. It was a source of inspiration, a friendly reminder that society often puts limitations on certain individuals.
This day was a reminder that we can exceed expectations, step into the spotlight, take center stage and seize the moment!
