Sheriff Warnke led a lively discussion of the many challenges and solutions of law enforcement in Merced County during the COVID 19 pandemic. After a few opening remarks, the sheriff opened the meeting to answering questions from the audience. He fielded questions on the recent jail escape, the enforcement of state restrictions regarding the pandemic, department staffing, and a few personal incidents. The sheriff also gave some personal information on how he wanted to become a policeman since childhood, a little of his parent’s history and how he entered the sheriff department and later ran for sheriff.
The sheriff drew a record crowd of Republican women and guests to the March meeting. Merced County Republican Women Federated meets the third Monday of each month currently at the Merced Elk’s Club. Call club president Pat Davis at 209/357-0258 for more information and reservations to the April meeting.
