State Assembly member Anna Caballero, a candidate for State Senate District 12 which includes Merced County, paid a campaign visit to Merced last week at the Branding Iron Restaurant. The Salinas-based politician met with members of the local Democratic Committee and community leaders who asked her questions concering water storage, economic develpment in rural areas and transportation. Caballero, a Democrat, faces competition from Republican candidates Johnny Tacherra of Fresno County and Rob Poythress of Madera. The District 12 seat is currently held by Anthony Cannella of Ceres.
