The Atwater location of In-Shape Health Clubs at 2501 Shaffer Road reopened for business on March 8, 2021, and starting on April 1, the club will again offer fitness classes for its members.
Due to the pandemic, in March 2020 health clubs were initially shut down through Governor Gavin Newsom’s stay-at-home order. Subsequently the Atwater club was allowed to reopen on October 15, 2020 but it had to shut down again during the surge in cases which peaked in November 2020 through mid-January 2021.
Jeremy Castorio, Area Manager for In-Shape Health Clubs, told the Times, “The Atwater In Shape club reopened on March 8. We’re excited that we’re back and ready to go.
“The plan is that as of April 1, we will be offering classes again at all our open locations.
“We will have extra cleaning protocols in place to disinfect equipment, and we’re starting with classes that don’t utilize a lot of equipment to keep touch points as minimal as possible, and then we’ll keep layering on and adding more and more classes and amenities as COVID restrictions lift.
“In Atwater, the fitness classes which will be available indoors on April 1 are Zumba, Body Pump, and the Mind/Body classes, which are Yoga and those types of classes.
“To find out when the classes are held and how to take them, members can use an In-Shape app and make a reservation or they can do it through the In-Shape online portal.
“We have a reservation process so we can insure we don’t exceed capacity, and that way people can maintain that social distance. To visit the club, everyone needs a reservation which can be made through In Shape’s state-of-the-art app or on the website, accessed by their computer. Also, people can be assured of a space in a class that way.
“In-Shape has created its own state-of-the- art phone app to manage the workout process, and we’re proud of how easy and convenient it is and how well people can plan their experience with us because of that.
“We’ve created tools to do things online so people can start memberships, adjust memberships and do all the functions of being part of our community by the process with the app or online.
“As the State gets ready to open, we’re taking steps to get back into action and are super excited to be a place for health and wellness for the community.
“We’re opening our offerings as the State reopens so that we can be a part of making our communities happier and healthier.
“With all of our offerings, we have put in a lot of state-of-the-art features to maintain social distancing and manage capacity and insure our members have the space, supplies and abilities to stay safe.
“We are very big on hiring local people for our clubs. We like to think of Atwater as our family and have hired local people as much as possible for the Atwater club.”
