Marking the 11th year of bringing artwork and performances to Main Street, the quarterly Merced Art Hop is poised for yet another Fall edition this Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Wear your costume because this is Halloween time, and that’s the overall theme of this event which will be held all along Main Street and inside downtown businesses. Organizers Kimberly Zamora and Kevin Hammon have prepared a wide range of special events, exhibits, and interactive art activities to highlight the evening.
Starting in Bob Hart Square, residents — especially young people — will have the opportunity to create a vareity of arts and crafts highlighting the culture of Halloween, and also Dia de los Muertos. They will work with ink dyed tiles, geometric artworks, and traditional mediums. Art activities include foil creations and shaving cream sculptures that are suitable for all ages.
Also, don’t forget to visit the Multicultural Arts Center where a variety of seasonal exhibits are on display that are sure to add enchantment to a magical and spooky night.
Free and open to the public, the Art Hop aims to bring local artists, supporters, businesses, and families together for a night of creative fun.
Organizers for the event recommend stopping by the information booth located at the center of the event near Bob Hart Square where attendees can pick up a map to find their way from store to store, and activity to activity. Those looking for the most up-to-date information prior to the event can find it by going online to: MercedArtHop.org.
