Merced County will witness a powerful gathering of future leaders as the 11th annual Young Women’s Conference takes over the UC Merced’s campus on Saturday, March 21.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., 250 young women in grades 6 through 12 will convene for a day dedicated to the mission: Empower. Enrich. Inspire.
The conference serves as a premier platform for young females to bridge the gap between their current potential and their future impact. By connecting students with influential female role models and peers from various school districts, the event fosters a unique environment of sisterhood and collective ambition.
“At the University of California Merced, our mission is deeply connected to the communities we serve, and the Young Women’s Conference is a powerful example of how partnerships can inspire young women across the Central Valley to pursue their goals with confidence and purpose,” said Dr. Zenaida Aguirre-Munoz, a UC Merced professor.
This year’s program is designed to be a profound opportunity for attendees to engage with professional mentors and community leaders.
The experience includes:
• Inspiring Mentorship: A keynote address from the distinguished author Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez; and networking opportunities with positive role models local to our community
• Skill-Building Workshops: Interactive sessions focusing on self-enrichment, social responsibility, and life skills
• Future Planning: Specialized tracks for college guidance and career exploration tailored for young women
• Community Building: A space for female students across Merced County to share experiences and build lasting connections
“This event was established 11 years ago, founded by Martha Nateras with the goal of empowering, enriching, and inspiring future women leaders across Merced County,” noted Julianna Stocking, the superintendent of the Merced City School District. “I am honored to play a role in its re-establishment after five years of dormancy. It is more than just a one-day event; it is a meaningful step toward strengthening our community by investing in the young women who will one day lead it.”
The partnership of UC Merced, United Way, and Soroptimist International of Merced, along with sponsors makes this event possible.
“As co-presidents of Soroptimist International of Merced, we are honored to partner with local schools and organizations for the 2026 Young Women’s Conference,” stated Kimberly Brown and Amy Taylor. “Our mission is to empower young women and improve lives globally through dedicated professional volunteerism,”
Through the generosity of community supporters, this transformative experience is provided at no cost to the 250 participants, ensuring that the path to leadership is accessible to all. Attendees will also enjoy a continental breakfast, a gourmet lunch, and various raffle prizes throughout the day.
