It has been a busy school year for Pacheco FFA!
Our overall theme for the year is “Can’t Mask My Love For FFA!”
In early September, we selected our officers. The following members were voted on by the chapter: Leonor Del Río – President; Ethan Sousa – Vice President; Aspen Jorge – Secretary; Zack Machado – Treasurer; Madison Moore – Reporter; Melany Rivas – Sentinel; and Cassius Gandy – Historian.
They started their term by attending the virtual COLC conference, and since then, the officers have been working closely to plan the rest of the school year.
We had our annual “Welcome Back FFA Week,” and we encouraged students to dress up and tag our Instagram to show off their FFA spirit!
Our days include “Mixed-Up Monday,” “Tie-Dye Tuesday,” “Western Wednesday,” “Thriving Thursday,” and “FFA Friday.”
To end the month of October, we held a virtual costume contest. Our winners were Crystal Romero, Amaya Hernandez, and Alyssa Parker!
Instead of our annual rib dinner fundraiser, we sold holiday wreaths. As a chapter, we sold 263 wreaths and raised over $3,000! Thank you to everyone who purchased and supported.
On Nov. 5th, the cotton judging “A” and “B” team attended the virtual Handford Cotton Judging competition. Both earned the title of the overall fifth high team. On Nov. 7th, the “A” team competed in the Fresno State cotton judging state finals and earned ninth overall. Congratulations to all of the participants!
From Nov. 17th through the 19th, the chapter hosted a canned food drive-through. We successfully collected 1,200 cans within three days! All of the cans we received were donated to the Los Banos Police Department for our local families to enjoy.
We hosted a drive-through event to pickup Greenhand and Chapter degrees, all wreath orders, and to drop off toys to be donated to the Police Department to be sorted and distributed to local children. Our members donated over 100 toys.
To begin the month of December, on the 5th, three, first-year members attended the virtual creed speaking competition. Congratulations to Alondra Garcia who placed fourth overall!
On Dec. 7, six students competed in the Merced-Mariposa section project competition. Great job to everyone who participated!
To bring 2020 to a close Pacheco FFA hosted an ugly sweater and gingerbread house contest. Congratulations to the winners, Gianna Fabian and Crystal Romero!
Celebrating the holiday season, we participated in the sectional dress up week. Awesome job to everyone who participated.
Our advanced floral students have been doing flower flashes around town to bring joy to our community — a great way to get involved.
Show season is just around the corner for many of our members. Although the May Day fair has been called off, we would like to wish everyone showing elsewhere good luck!
Many of our members have been working closely together as the LDE and CDE spring season teams began to prepare for future competitions.
Good Luck to everyone competing!
We can’t wait for what the rest of 2021 has in store for us!
