Hundreds of people were lined up outside of the American Legion on Main Street on the morning of Thanksgiving Day as they awaited a traditional turkey dinner organized by the Merced County Rescue Mission.
The annual charitable meal is put together by a team of well over 100 volunteers and supported by countless Merced organizations and businesses.
The annual feast provides enough turkey, stuffing, vegetables, baked potatoes, and pie for residents in need during the holiday season, according to Merced County Rescue Mission Executive Director Bruce Metcalf.
Those in attendance also had the opportunity to pick out clothing from several tables of donated items to ensure they had warm clothes as we head further into the winter months.
