The Pavilion Hall of the Merced County Fairgrounds was packed last Saturday night for the 36th annual all-you-can-eat Crab Dinner by the (North) Merced Rotary Club.
And there was plenty for everyone — and then some.
Sources close to the Times revealed that the club acquired some 2,000 pounds of fresh crab for the event, amounting to nearly four pounds for each of the 500+ guests who showed up. Of course not everyone ate that much crab, but everyone had their fill, and to-go bag orders were popular at the end of the night.
The night also featured a dessert auction and raffle. All proceeds from the night go to Rotary-sponsored community events and efforts.
