Alissa Haynes
The Merced College Music Department and Jazz Ensembles will perform two “big band” concerts at the start of December that will feature a mix of classics, current songs, instrumentals and plenty of vocals.
There was so much participation by local musicians last semester that the Ensemble created two performance bands, appropriately named the Thursday Night Jazz Band and the Monday Night Jazz Band. The will both take the stage at the Merced College Theatre in two separate performances. Both nights will feature different music and different bands performing their hearts out just for you.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, the Thursday Night Jazz Band will feature tunes such as: “Hit the Road Jack,” “Sway,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Jump Jive and Wail,” “Hello,” “All I want for Christmas Is You,” “Gold Finger,” “Frim Fram Sauce,” and many more. The special guest artist will be vocalist Alissa Haynes. And the evening is billed as a “Night of Jazz Classics.”
On Friday, Dec. 6, the Monday Night Jazz Band will be performing tunes such as: “Sir Duke,” “Baby Get Lost,” “The Incredibles,” “You’re a Mean one Mr. Grinch,” “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon,” “Gonna Live Till I Die” and many more great jazz tunes. Vocalist Alissa Haynes will also attending as the guest artist.
Both nights will be filled with great entertainment for the entire family, so please come on out and support live jazz band music at Merced College.
Doors open at 7 p.m., and you can buy your tickets at the door of the Merced College Theatre. Show starts at 7:30 p.m.
