Aguilera reveals campaign platform

Ricky Aguilera, a candidate for the District 2 seat on the Merced County Board of Supervisors, held a campaign kickoff event in front of the County Administration building on a recent afternoon.

The festive affair included speeches, music, traditional Mexican “baile folklorico” and Mexican sweet bread and hot chocolate.

Aguilera told a crowd that as a candidate he will focus on: 1) The homeless issue; 2) The water issue — making sure there is an adequate supply of drinking water for residents; 3) Support for law enforcement and funding for the county’s fire services; 4) Adequate programs for local young people and seniors; and 5) Maintaining a balanced budget and supporting an Economic Development Plan.

Aguilera faces incumbent Supervisor Lee Lor and fellow challengers Josh Pedrozo and Angel Barragan. They all will face off in the March 5 Primary Election.
